‘New Love’, the album, is Ziggy’s seventh studio album to date, marking a new chapter in Alberts' artistic journey, reflecting on themes of second chances, self-worth, and the intricate tapestry of modern life. The album is a spiritual sequel to ‘Laps Around The Sun’, born from the road in the UK and crafted with the intention of being played live. Side A represents the light, or North, with songs that feel familiar and intimate; while Side B ventures into darker tones and broader instrumentation, representing the South. It’s this balance that makes ‘New Love’ feel cohesive, giving the album a sense of being made to be listened to in its entirety, much like the records that inspired Alberts’ early on in his career.
Ziggy explains how “The record, to me, has a message and meaning of a return to simplicity; that despite all life's chaos and all that you know and how far you've come and grown as a person, your life can be led by magic and adventure-if you choose joy and choose to do good. I think choosing simplicity is wisdom, and that's how I tried to practise this album-from the recording process to how we laid out the tracklist. I’m excited to share it with everyone”.
Ziggy’s latest single ‘Learn Yourself’ out today, highlights the importance of embracing self-confidence and living your most authentic life. The raw guitar melody paired with Ziggy’s soft yet impactful voice allow the lyrics of the track to stand out, presenting a powerful sense of resilience with lines like “I do belong, I’m here, I’m embodied”. The song explains that self-acceptance and growth are key to finding peace and fulfillment. Speaking on the track, Ziggy expresses that it’s all about "learning and understanding yourself”, he goes on to say “Honestly, Learn Yourself was one of the best sonic moments of the album. Written on the beach at sunset in Hawaii, it has a really sweet vibe. Lyrics like 'remember you are made of stars' are really hopeful.”
The single also comes alongside a new sunkissed music video, watch here. The video begins with Ziggy’s spoken word poem - ‘Flowers Bathed In Sunlight', opening the reflective and thoughtful single beautifully. The album also includes hit tracks, ‘Outlaw’, ‘Where Does The Love Go?’ and ‘I’m With You’. Ziggy was intentional with every decision in creating this album and intended for it to be listened to as an album, taking the listener through the narrative that life can be led by magic if you choose joy and to do good.
Ziggy also recently announced his global ‘New Love’ tour, seeing him perform in iconic cities across the world including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Chicago, Toronto, Brooklyn, Miami, Mexico City, Brussels, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Vienna, Geneva, Porto, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona and Paris. Featuring hit singles 'New Love’, 'Where Does the Love Go?' and latest single, ‘I’m With You’. The record ‘New Love’ marks a return to simplicity and authenticity, blending folk, rock, and country influences to create a cohesive yet dynamic listening experience.
From humble beginnings busking on the streets of Byron Bay to selling out venues across the globe, Ziggy’s journey has been defined by heartfelt storytelling, tireless touring, and a fiercely independent approach. His 2018 album ‘Laps Around The Sun’ became an incredible breakout moment, and since then, he’s scored numerous highs - multiple ARIA gold and platinum records, sold out tours that criss-cross the world, and even released his own poetry books. The future looks bright for Ziggy, with enraptured fans across the globe.
Ziggy’s new collection of tracks seamlessly blend Folk Pop and Acoustic Chill together, whilst wrapped in bright acoustic melodies and introspective lyrics. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Garrett Kato, ‘New Love’ promises to resonate deeply with listeners, offering a journey through honesty, self-discovery, and the beauty of imperfection - it's a celebration of growth, resilience, and the beauty found in life's journey.
