Live Review - Concert
Amy Montgomery
Leoni Jane Kennedy
Location - Guildford
venue - The Star
Date - 12th April 23
It has been quite a few years since last venturing to the "back room" of The Star in Guildford. It certainly hasn't changed which is a relief.
Tonight we have two bands lined up the main headline act being Amy Montgomery, touring a few select locales before returning home to Northern Ireland .
Amy's list of influences is indeed impressive, including the likes of Janis Joplin and Grace Slick, whilst also acknowledging her all time foil Alanis Morissette. Commanding the stage from the beginning and not letting go till the last ounce has been wringed out of her highly energetic performance.
Amy leaves part of herself with each song sometimes looking drained as the passion has been exhausted in each song.
The band who all look to be in the zone tonight perform each song, switch positions and instruments throughout the show.
New songs are played during the show and there are more apparently in the pipeline.
Many Festival performances to come and a UK Tour in the Autumn. Check out Amy's Homepage
Supporting Artist is Leoni Jane Kennedy, fronting a three piece ensemble. They produce a dynamic set with as mentioned a heavy prog influence and a dose of Rush. Some excellent instrumentation.
