Enigmatic London outfit Y release their ‘ENTER’ EP, out May 8th via SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special) & Hideous Mink Records (Alien Chicks, Opus Kink)
Emerging from the capital’s underground scene without much interest in fitting in, Y are a collective built on friction. Formed by Adam Brennan and Sophie Coppin during a period of isolation - a way of making sense of boredom, frustration and noise, the group have quickly grown into something louder, sharper and harder to ignore. From the cinematic chaos of opener ‘Duplicate’, to the sci-fi disco swagger of ‘May’, the glam-rock madness of ‘Generate The Oh No’, the punk-electronic punch of ‘Skipper’, and the all-out statement of intent that is ‘Waiting/Winning’, ‘ENTER’ captures Y in full attack mode - confident, unpredictable, and inviting listeners deeper into their world.
Forged through relentless shows at The Windmill (a rite of passage for South London’s most adventurous acts) and beyond, Y have built their reputation on live performances that feel closer to a collective purge than a gig. Having ticked off countless supports with the likes of Fat Dog, KEG and Warmduscher, as well as several sold-out London headliners of their own, the band are in the midst of a mammoth 2026 on the live front with festival dates galore (incl. The Great Escape) and a debut UK headline tour currently taking place this month to coincide with their EP release.

Having kicked off the year with a spot in Dork Magazine’s 2026 HYPE List and an appearance at DIY Magazine’s Hello 2026 London live series, Y continue to attract widespread plaudits throughout the press landscape (DIY, Dork, So Young, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Rough Trade, Consequence of Sound, Under The Radar) , as well as multiple spins on the BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Amy Lamé, Emily Pilbeam) and Radio X (John Kennedy) airwaves, positioning them perfectly for the arrival of ‘ENTER’.
Discussing the EP, Y revealed: “Recorded at Farm Road Studios in Brighton with Jake Smallwood, ‘ENTER’ is our second EP and a darker, more ambitious step forward. Across five tracks, each song explores its own distinct style while coming together as a more cohesive whole than our debut. After road-testing the material live for so long, we entered the studio knowing exactly how we wanted each part to hit, building every track up from strong live performances between drums, bass and guitar as a solid foundation to capture our live energy before expanding the tracks with any sax, synths or vocals.”
Y’s ‘ENTER’ (EP) is out now via SO Recordings and Hideous Mink Records and available on all digital platforms.
