Enigmatic London collective Y announce ‘ENTER’ EP (pre-order here), set for release May 8th via SO Recordings (Enter Shikari, Deadletter, Big Special) & Hideous Mink Records (Alien Chicks, Opus Kink), and share brand new single ‘May’, out today (March 3rd) following last night’s BBC 6 Music Steve Lamacq premiere.

Emerging from the capital’s underground scene without much interest in fitting in, Y are a band built on friction. Formed by Adam Brennan and Sophie Coppin during a period of isolation - a way of making sense of boredom, frustration and noise, the group have quickly grown into something louder, sharper and harder to ignore, showcased perfectly throughout their hypnotic new offering ‘May’.

Forged through relentless shows at The Windmill (a rite of passage for South London’s most adventurous acts) and beyond, Y have built their reputation on live performances that feel closer to a collective purge than a gig. Having ticked off countless supports with the likes of Fat Dog, KEG and Warmduscher, as well as several sold-out London headliners of their own, the band are primed for a mammoth 2026 on the live front with festival dates galore and a debut UK headline tour announcement accompanying this release.

Kicking off the year with a spot in Dork Magazine’s 2026 HYPE List and an appearance at DIY Magazine’s Hello 2026 London live series, Y have won widespread backing throughout the press landscape (DIY, Dork, So Young, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Rough Trade, Consequence of Sound, Under The Radar) in recent times, as well as multiple spins on the BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Amy Lamé, Emily Pilbeam) and Radio X (John Kennedy) airwaves, positioning them perfectly ahead of their second EP’s arrival this spring.

Detailing their first release of 2026’, Y revealed: “‘May’ was written in the run up to an election happening that month. The song weaves subtle political and cultural jabs with imagery of growth and decay, pulling on both public events and private turmoil happening during the time. In cohesion with our previous releases, ‘May’ keeps a sense of humour - a dance-while-you-cry kind of number - while maintaining our signature sound.”

Y’s ‘May’ is out now via SO Recordings and Hideous Mink Records and available on all digital platforms.
