JAN 22 - Bristol-based post-punk quartet announce their new Sleepers, Mourners EP for March 13th via Modern Sky. New single ‘London, Out There’ lands with the news. The New Cut have recently undertaken support slots with SPRINTS, Buzzocks and The Bug Club, as well as run the gamut of tastemaker festivals in The Great Escape, Dot To Dot, and Left Of The Dial and more - earning fans along the way with their direct approach to updating 80s indebted post-punk and New Wave.

The 4-piece blend the energy of The Fall, Wire, and The Monochrome Set with modern themes, and the new single is no different. The brooding guitars of ‘London, Out There’ mark the bands turn into a more reflective and introspective sound.
Inspired by the rise in the new builds of office buildings and student accommodation in the place of historic buildings and green areas, The New Cut marry the existentialism of an encroaching modern skyline, to their own feelings of despondency in their personal life.
Sonically, ‘London Out There’ also takes influence from more modern post punk bands like Protomatyr and Do Nothing, this adds a more melancholic feel in contrast to the upbeat nature of the rest of the EP. Talking about ‘London, Out There’ lead singer and lyricist Henry Gerrard says: “Whilst walking past a part of Bristol, I was taken aback by the amount of new development being built by the riverside of The Avon New Cut. Bristol is a city with an immense amount of character and culture, but has recently seen office building after office building developed throughout, offering countless beacons of soulless white lights to shine onto forgotten pavements. The worst offenders, in our opinion, come from the destruction of Victorian/20th century factory buildings to make way for student accommodation new-builds. I was also going through a period of reflection following a mental and chronic health battle and found the areas of disappointment in my life encroach into the day to day, like London-style office blocks in unique metropolitan areas.”

The New Cut are:
Henry Gerrard: Vocals, Guitar; Rachel Parr: Vocals, Bass; Felicity Case: Vocals, Guitar; Morgan Dawson-Sellis: Drums
