A new collaborative project from John J Presley, Ben Hillier and Danielle Perry

Shadowman is a new collaborative project from John J Presley, Ben Hillier and Danielle Perry. A musical collective drawn from mutual inspirations and a desire to create freely and quickly with musicians on the same page. Together, it’s a tapestry of sonics, from crunching guitars to sweeping orchestration; death march brass to motorik drum machines, vocal interplay, and post-rock build-ups.
Today, Shadowman share their first single 'Flowers'. John J Presley says of this song: ‘I wrote the lyrics for 'Flowers' after seeing a friend in the street who had just parted ways with his partner. Moments later, I saw the ex-girlfriend with her new man, looking very much in the throes of the early days of any new relationship. The music is a pure experiment with an 80s delay, a recently acquired synth, and a drum machine". The track, which features Pete Wareham on sax and was engineered by Dan Crook, is accompanied by a video directed by Laura-Mary Cater/The Thrill of Losing.

Ben Hillier is a record producer, mixer, songwriter and musician who has worked with many internationally acclaimed artists during his 30-year career. He has produced albums for bands including Depeche Mode, Blur, Elbow, Doves and Howling Bells and mixed for the likes of Villagers, The Magic Numbers, Editors, and many more. As well as co-writing and producing Nadine Shah’s first five albums, he toured extensively as her drummer and MD over the last 10 years. Ben has built multiple studios and set up Miloco’s “The Pool” studio in Bermondsey, in which he was a partner for 17 years. He currently works from Agricultural Audio, a studio made from straw bales in the middle of a field on a farm in Sussex, and runs a label of the same name.
