New album by TORA DAA called Prayer and Pleasure
The Norwegian guitar pop phenomenon Tora Dahle Aagård and her amazing band

On Friday 26th September, Norwegian guitar pop phenomenon Tora Dahle Aagård and her band TORA DAA will release their fourth album “Prayer and Pleasure”
The album launch will be followed by an extensive tour across Norway and abroad, with an exclusive album launch concert at the Hootananny in Brixton, London on 28th September.
Earlier this year, Tora was given the honour of composing a commissioned work for one of Norway’s most prestigious music festivals, Trondheim Jazzfest. The work was praised by the critics and subsequently described by the Festival Director as “the best in the festival’s history”. The compositions from the commission constitute the very core of the upcoming album: “The album is called Prayer and Pleasure because it’s full of contrasts – just like life itself. I’m not religious but I think we all feel the need to ask for help sometimes. Life isn’t easy for all, but we all carry the hope that things will get better. At the same time, life is also filled with joy, delight, and beautiful women – pleasure. I didn’t choose to be a lesbian, but every day I choose to live a queer life. A life that breaks with societal norms. A life where I can be myself fully every single day, and who ‘I’ am keeps changing. It’s a free life – and for me, freedom is pleasure. I’ve written lyrics about things I’ve never spoken about publicly before. It’s challenging, but it also feels very right.” – Tora comments on the album.
Compared to the previous album Seventeen, this record is rawer and more organic. Tora has chosen to keep several of the recording’s first takes of both vocals and guitar, adding that “I wanted to preserve the honest tones and words that come out the very first time you sing or play a song.”
