NYC risers Native Sun release debut album ‘Concrete Language’, out today (September 19th) via TODO Records, accompanied by rich and blissful new single ‘Whose Kids’ .

Celebrating their LP release with a hometown show at Rough Trade NYC on September 25th, Native Sun are primed for a mammoth UK and European headline tour this autumn, preceded by a run of US dates alongside Bass Drum Of Death. The band’s first record provides a remarkable showcase of their forward-thinking, non-nostalgic blend of garage rock, art rock and punk, with plenty of plaudits following lead singles ‘I Need Nothing’, ‘Squash’ and ‘No’ in recent months.

Fronted by Colombian-born Danny Gomez (vox/guitar) alongside Justin Barry (bass/vox), Jack Hiltabidle (guitar), and Argentine-born Nicolas Espinosa (drums), Native Sun is celebrated for their visceral, untamed live shows and Gomez’s socially-charged lyrics that confront reality head-on - channeling disillusionment into action and lovingly documenting the lives of society’s misfits and marginalized.

With a DIY ethos and a devoted following, Native Sun are ready to build on early fanfare throughout the UK and US press landscape (Brooklyn Vegan, DIY, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, So Young, FLOOD Magazine, NYLON, Paste, Rolling Stone), whilst on the live front, the four-piece have already played alongside the likes of A Place To Bury Strangers, Bodega, Geese, Indigo de Souza and Nation of Language.

Speaking ahead of their LP release, the band stated: “‘Concrete Language’ is a record lover’s record, meant to be heard front-to-back. At its core, it’s a love letter to a city in turmoil capturing New York in all its contradictions…the brutality and beauty, the isolation and noise. This record has lived in our heads and as demos for some time and now it’s about to exist in the world. We didn’t chase perfection, we chased honesty. ‘Concrete Language’ is raw, urgent, and direct. Four people in a room wrestling with the chaos we live in, trying to give it shape, sound, and language. Releasing it is both a relief and a release. It’s letting go of what we’ve carried and hoping it connects with people who feel that same weight.”

Detailing their accompanying single release ‘Whose Kids’, the group added: “‘Whose Kids’ is aimed at a generation consumed by hollow gestures, boredom, and inaction. The song cuts through the noise and grabs for something real, a reminder there’s more worth reaching for.”

Produced and mixed by Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Snail Mail, Bodega, The Drums, Pottery) and mastered by Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, IDLES, Future Islands, Vampire Weekend), Native Sun’s ‘Concrete Language’ (LP) is out now via TODO and available on all digital platforms.

Native Sun is Danny Gomez (singer/guitarist), Jack Hiltabidle (guitarist), Justin Barry (bassist), Nico Espinosa (drummer)
