Bristol melodic post-punk experts MOULD announce debut album ‘Hoping As A Coping Mechanism’ (pre-order here), set for release July 10th via 5dB Records (anaiis, Ashaine White), and share brand new single ‘Falling Posture’ (video here), out today (Feb 18th).

Detailing their forthcoming LP release, the group explained: “We are beyond excited to get this album out into the world. The collective sum of our combined beans condensed into half an hour of unrelenting bangers. Bangers ahoy. As an album it has a lot more range than anything we’ve done before. A refining of our strengths, with a lot of focus on dynamics, structure and melody. Although, it starts with a stinking rager so hopefully fans of ‘CHUNKS’ etc won’t be pathetically weeping that the mould has been cleaned up slightly. Regardless of genre or style, we’re ultimately trying to write good songs, ones we'd want to listen to ourselves. This is our strongest batch to date. Until the next album of course. We’re very proud parents to our first full sizer.”

Written in snatches of time in their Bristol hometown, recorded in London’s 5dB Studios and produced by Sean Oakley (Georgia, Scaler, Sorry), who flew in from LA especially for the project, ‘Hoping as a Coping Mechanism’ is a strong display of their talents. In their own words, it’s “more focussed, paced and thought-out”, but over 13 tracks that explore the horrors of the outside world and the internal minefield of the brain, MOULD’s debut also hits with the thrills of a brilliant live band who’ve distilled that energy to tape and are firmly cementing themselves at the forefront of the indie landscape.

Having shared first LP preview, the BBC 6 Music-playlisted lead single ‘Float’ last November, 'Falling Posture' begins with a cacophonous blast of noise before turning into a rattling punk number that started life “sounding a bit like The Cribs”, and then drops out into an unexpected slacker final third. Like many of MOULD’s wares, they call it a “Frankenstein song” - one made of seemingly disparate ingredients bolted together into one exciting and surprising whole.

Primed for a mammoth UK headline tour next month ahead of their album’s arrival, MOULD continue to galvanise support across the press landscape (NME, DIY, Dork, So Young, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, Rolling Stone UK, Rough Trade, Brooklyn Vegan), in addition to nods of approval across the BBC 6 Music (Huw Stephens, Amy Lamé) and Radio X (John Kennedy) airwaves. With further festival dates and new music lined up for release in the coming months, MOULD’s profile is sure to accelerate further.

Detailing ‘Falling Posture’, vocalist/bassist Kane Eagle added: “It’s about the pressures of staying positive whilst being bombarded with life’s expectations. Delving too deep into overthinking every aspect of your life, getting caught up and stuck in a loop of your own and others’ expectations of what “success” is. Doing so never really leads to anything positive,  be content with what you have”.

MOULD’s ‘Falling Posture’ is out now via 5dB Records and available on all digital platforms.

MOULD is

Joe Sherrin (vocals, guitar), Kane Eagle (vocals, bass), James Luxton (drums)
