NEW YORK – Brazilian, Brooklyn-based dream-pop artist Late Again releases "If You Have A Bridge (I'm Buying)", out 3rd June 2026. The first single from his upcoming fourth EP 'I Dreamt I Was Awake' (September 2026) serves as a trippy, upbeat, melodic ode to New York City through the eyes of an immigrant who found the closest thing to home there.

The Song: Consciously Buying Into Pipe Dreams

"'If You Have A Bridge (I'm Buying)' is my take on an ode to New York City—a trippy, upbeat, and melodic journey through the eyes of an immigrant who found the closest thing to home there," Late Again (Rafael Melo) explains. "It's a song about consciously buying into pipe dreams, and finding happiness in that choice even when, in a place like this, 'everyone you know is broke or blue,' as the lyric puts it."

The track blends North American indie aesthetics with Brazilian bossa nova melodies, Japanese '80s grooves, and cinematic textures—paired with Late Again's signature ironic, diaristic lyricism. It's a sound that sits comfortably alongside contemporary alternative acts including Mac DeMarco, Tame Impala, Men I Trust, Clairo, Still Woozy, and The Marías.

The Video: 100 Miles Across New York City

"The song's music video was produced in collaboration with visual artist Gabriel Rollinos (Tame Impala, Toro y Moi, Metronomy), and follows a surreal bike ride across all five boroughs of New York City—over 100 miles biked to capture it," Late Again adds.

The visual component reflects Late Again's multi-hyphenate approach to storytelling, expanding the boundaries of his music beyond sound itself—an effort to tell his stories in whatever medium it takes.

The EP: 'I Dreamt I Was Awake'

Late Again is now gearing up for the release of his most ambitious work yet, 'I Dreamt I Was Awake'. A preamble to his debut album coming in 2027, Late Again's fourth studio EP starts to show a common thread across his past work, while a confidence shift becomes clearer as he doubles down on his unique observational writing style with each of the 6 new tracks.

Drawing from dream-pop textures, alternative beats, melodies from his native Brazil, and cynical yet friendly lyrics, Late Again crafts a space where lucidity and self-delusion coexist. A collection of songs that are sonically nostalgic and welcoming, without losing a nuanced, soft but exacting edge.

Recorded at Studio G (Brooklyn) and Evil Twin (São Paulo), the EP features drums from Thiago Dom (Kimbra, Duda Beat), bass lines from John Lisi (Twin Brother, John Roseboro), engineering from Nelson Espinal (Mdou Moctar, YHWH Nailgun, Sessa), and mixing from Heal Mura, his long-term Brazilian musical collaborator.

The visual world is a central part of the new EP, materialized by a series of three music videos produced under the visual direction of Gabriel Rollinos (Tame Impala, Toro y Moi, Metronomy).

About Late Again

Late Again is the dream-pop project of multimedia artist Rafael Melo. Born and raised on the shores of São Paulo, Rafael found in New York City a home for his music. With a distinct background, Late Again combines the raw irony of the big city with the intimate textures of his home country to create a unique blend of genre-melding pop.

Since his debut in April 2024, Late Again has been steadily building momentum, with his three EPs reaching over 2 million listeners on Spotify, hitting the SubModern charts, and packing shows on the East Coast.

With a career spanning award-winning films and best-selling indie video games, Rafael's work through Late Again has led to ambitious collaborations ranging from Brazilian jazz maestro Arthur Verocai (Badbadnotgood, MF Doom, Gal Costa) to experimental visual artist Gabriel Rollinos (Tame Impala, Toro y Moi, Metronomy), and beyond.
