NEW ALBUM 'MODERN NIGHT' OUT 12 SEPTEMBER 2025

Post-funk artist Alex Fernet will release his new album 'Modern Night' on 12th September via Bronson Recordings.

Having recently shared the album's first single, 'Sunlight Vampires', where we are introduced to a character that reappears throughout the entire album, Alex Fernet now presents new track 'The Nightdrive'. Considered by Alex as the album's manifesto, the track is both a soundtrack and a hallucination—a night journey through deserted streets, where the headlights don't quite pierce the fog. Its atmosphere evokes the tension of The Twilight Zone, the loneliness of late-night TV reruns, and the flicker of provincial disco lights long after the music has ended. It encapsulates the sound and aesthetic of the entire album and serves as a statement of the artist's vision of the world.

Self-produced by Alex and mixed and mastered by Maurizio Baggio (Boy Harsher, The Soft Moon), 'Modern Night' musically defies easy categorisation. There are echoes of AOR radio ballads, post-industrial funk, and soul music stripped of optimism. Think of it as future nostalgia with dirt under its fingernails: a deeply contemporary work that rejects digital perfection in favour of analogue imperfection. As Fernet puts it: “In an era of over-edited sound, the most radical act might be to let things breathe.”
