Halifax indie specialist Ellur shares evocative new effort ‘The World Is Not An Oyster’, out today (November 4th) via cult indie label Dance To The Radio.

Written alongside Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Jack Leonard (UNKLE), Ellur’s latest offering follows acclaimed recent singles ‘The Wheel’ and ‘Missing Kid’, with praise reverberating around the press landscape (NME, Consequence of Sound, Dork, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, CMU) and the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Gemma Bradley, Jess Iszatt, Mollie King, Sian Eleri - ‘Next Wave’ interview) and BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Chris Hawkins, Deb Grant, Nathan Shepherd, Emily Pilbeam) airwaves in the process.

Firmly capitalising on the buzz around her soaring profile, Ellur’s brutally honest reflection on life in her emerging 20s has brought plenty of fanfare and endorsements from various artists including The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne, as well as songwriting sessions and podcasting slots with the likes of Antony Szmierek, Blossoms and Jade Bird. With a first full UK tour including six sold-out dates last month (incl. London, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle & Bristol) and further new music slated for release, the burgeoning musician is certainly primed to reach new heights.

Detailing the track’s origins, Ellur revealed: “This is the story of a teenage girl who is trying to figure out why love just doesn’t seem to come easy in her life. When I was 15 my parents split up and my whole world fell apart and I got into a terrible relationship as a result of trying to understand it. Recording this song was a healing process after years of hurting from two of the most painful experiences in my life. Inspired by ‘A Rush of Blood to The Head’, ‘The Bends’, Embrace and the sounds of the early 2000’s that soundtracked my childhood. To me this song sounds like home and is such a true representation of my spirit and soul. If I were to dedicate it, I’d dedicate it to my Mum and Dad and the infinite love I have for them.”

Ellur’s ‘The World Is Not An Oyster’ is out now via Dance To The Radio and available on all digital platforms.
