In March 2024, rising alternative artist DEAR TASH reached a pivotal moment in her creative journey, spending a transformative week in the studio with acclaimed producer Jess Cake (Bambie Thug) to bring her debut EP FATAL to life. Today, that vision is fully released in full with brand-new track ‘FLOWERS’.

LISTEN TO ‘FATAL’ EP HERE

Blending the raw edge of ‘90s riot grrrl with the dark allure of gothic synthwave, DEAR TASH is a force emerging from London’s underground with unmistakable power. Her performances at major festivals like Download and All Points East have earned praise from Kerrang! and BBC Radio 1, marking her as one of alternative music’s most exciting new voices. Now recording at the legendary Dean St Studios, she’s redefining rock with music that’s both emotionally raw and undeniably catchy.

FATAL, her new EP, is much more than an EP: it’s a deeply personal milestone. “It feels like I’ve been working on this my whole life,” says Tara, the artist behind the pseudonym. “From picking up my first bass to playing my first gig- everything has led to this.”

The EP explores themes of growth, love, identity, and connection whilst also unveiling the final track from the project ‘FLOWERS’. The unheard song explores the feeling of grief, missing the friends that moved across the other side of the world and mourning the loss of relationships that you swore would last forever. A coming of age track to feel the pain of realising that nothing lasts forever and there is beauty in having to miss someone in the first place. An anthem to guide you through heartbreak and sorrow, there is still hope.

Working with producer Jess Cake at Dean St Studios helped push her sonic boundaries. The EP fuses alt-rock grit with synth-driven soundscapes, piano flourishes, and massive percussive hits, drawing inspiration from the likes of Muse and Paramore. This EP is also the first time she has taken full ownership of the singing, playing and leading. It is 100% DEAR TASH.

Visually, DEAR TASH is equally striking as her music. Inspired by an evolving love for horror and arthouse cinema, her aesthetic plays with contrasts, bright colors (such as her staple bright, red hair) set against dark themes, creating a visceral experience that mirrors the music’s emotional depth. "I love the juxtaposition of beauty and chaos, light and shadow. It’s how life feels to me, and I want that to come through in every aspect of what I create." In addition to this, some of DEAR TASH’s visual inspirations include films such as X, From Dusk till Dawn, Blade (1998), The Fifth Element, The Lost Boys, Evil Dead Rise, and Saltburn. These films have helped shape the cinematic feel of her music and visuals, helping the project go beyond the music itself.

Now, five years into the DEAR TASH journey, this upcoming release marks a defining moment. "It feels like everything I’ve done up until now has led to this." With her signature mix of grit, vulnerability, and electrifying energy, DEAR TASH is set to carve out a space entirely her own in the world of alternative music. And for DEAR TASH, that’s exactly the point. "I just want to inspire people the way music inspired me. To show them that they can be whoever they want to be, do whatever they want to do. Because that’s what music did for me. And that’s what DEAR TASH is all about."

FATAL is an intense, wild, yet hopeful introduction to the sonic world of DEAR TASH.
