FOLLOWING LONDON HEADLINE SHOW AT THE GRACE, THE BAND RELEASE THEIR NEW EP

11th June, 2025 – Victoria’s beloved indie rockers Current Swell return with 10 Feet Tall, the second of two companion EPs recorded in Toronto with acclaimed producer Gus van Go. Out June 11th, the five track collection showcases a band both grounded in their roots and unafraid to explore new creative territory.

After winning the Peak Performance Project in 2011, fans all across the world started to take notice of the Vancouver Island-based band and their West Coast rock sound. Current Swell’s success has been based on their ability to talk in profound and uplifting ways, whether about unconditional love, the cycle of life and death, or fame and success. Their releases have led them to sold-out tours in North America, Brazil, and Europe, with thousands of tickets sold across four continents and well over 60 million streams worldwide. Current Swell have also opened for bands like The Beach Boys, Xavier Rudd, and The Beautiful Girls.

“We stepped a bit out of our comfort zone for the song ‘10 Feet Tall,’ embracing the wacky fun and jubilation of it all,” the band shares on the new EP. That playful energy balances beautifully with familiar folk-rock comfort on tracks like “I Got Mine,” a mid-tempo Americana tune that nods to fan favourites like “I Want a Bird.” Elsewhere, anthemic standouts “High As a Kite” and the title track are already being imagined as future live singalongs.

But the band have taken a more relaxed approach to both writing and performing in this EP, allowing their personal lives to shape their creative process. With several members now raising young families, they’ve embraced a casual but deeply inspired writing process. “We’ve spent the past few years getting together for a week at a time, casually letting ideas flow,” says Stanton. “We demo a bunch of stuff, explore our own production tastes, and really just have fun with it. That freedom has made its way into these new songs, and we’re really excited for our fans to hear what we’ve been working on.”

Lyrically, the EP carries an undercurrent of gratitude and reflection, offering a snapshot of a band in a joyful, inspired chapter. “We’re in such a sweet spot in life now, music feels like both a treat and a retreat,” says David Lang. “We can’t help but be stoked to play, write, and just be alive and healthy. You can hear that in these songs.”
