Irish artist Christian Cohle releases his euphoric new single "Living With Lucy", out 28th May 2026. The groove-led alternative track marks another bold chapter in Cohle's evolving sound, channeling the sun-drenched territories of Future Islands and The War on Drugs with frontman-led vocals that feel physical and distinct, all rooted in indie-rock/alternative post-wave.
The Track: Euphoria with a Hidden Core
"Living With Lucy" reads like a person but it's also a state of being. Featuring Alex Reeves (Elbow) on live drums, with soaring analogue Yamaha DX7 pads, upright piano and bass guitar leading the charge, the track pairs an immediate, uplifting energy with a hidden emotional core—something that reveals itself more with each listen.
"In the spirit of 'Hey Ya!' by Outkast, it pairs an immediate, uplifting energy with a hidden emotional core; something that reveals itself more with each listen," Christian explains.
Lyrically, the track is anchored by a strong, singable chorus with light acoustic guitars that jangle and elevate:
"Will it still be you / When this year is through?"
"Will I still hold on / When this decade's gone?"
Drawing on modern detail and cinematic, mythic, Irish-leaning imagery, the track hints at a world where intimacy, memory, and time begin to blur. 'The slow rush came' hints at something shifting beneath it all, while storm-soaked imagery—flooded roads, grey skies, 'Storm Éowyn', and a 'field of whitethorns'—gives it a distinct Irish/UK sense of place without cliché.
The Video & Album Rollout
"Living With Lucy" leads the summer-to-autumn rollout for 'Queen of Ashes' (LP, October 2026), followed by a music video directed by Tristan Heanue on 11th June. Two further singles will arrive in August and late September ahead of the full album release.
From "Levitate" to "Living With Lucy"
Where January's "Levitate" erupted with Talking Heads/LCD Soundsystem-inspired propulsion—street prophets, seduction, moral conflict, and four-to-the-floor chaos—"Living With Lucy" finds Cohle exploring a different kind of intensity: the euphoric rush of connection, the slow erosion of time, and the question of whether intimacy can survive the passing years.
Following his striking October 2025 single "Oh It Must Be Nice," which showcased Cohle singing in a lower, conversational tone with 80s-infused Roxy Music sounds, "Living With Lucy" represents yet another evolution—maintaining emotional truth whilst pushing deeper into sun-drenched, groove-driven territory.
