Hartlepool newcomers Champ release debut EP ‘Born In The Wild End’,

out December 5th

Specialising in big-hearted, guitar-driven anthems for dreamers in small towns, Champ have already made quite the impression following the release of lead singles ‘Taste To Run’, ‘Future’ and their EP title-track, with praise arriving from the likes of NME, DIY, Dork and Clash, as well as initial plays on the BBC Radio 1 (Jess Iszatt) airwaves. Having completed a busy autumn of live shows, the band’s reputation continues to grow with rave reviews circulating throughout the press landscape.

Bringing songs of mates, mistakes, late nights, growing up and the characters that defined them, the group (FFO The War On Drugs, Tame Impala, Wunderhorse) are primed for a busy 2026 with an extensive live plot and further new material ready to be unleashed, as they become an ever-growing presence on the emerging indie circuit.

Speaking ahead of their debut EP release, frontman Jonny Bee stated: the daydream, 'Future' is the sacrifice, 'Born In The Wild End' is realisation sinking in, and 'Old Blue' is the goodbye note. The art“‘Born In The Wild End’ is our debut EP and is actually made up of the first 4 songs we wrote together as a band. These songs represent more than just our band and sound, they represent who we are, where we've come from, the relationships and people that shaped us and our often complicated relationship with our hometown. I see it like 'Taste To Run' is work is based on a picture I saw online of a boy playing football on a beach in the 90's, with the old steelworks in the background not far from where we're from. I managed to track down the boy in the photograph and his Dad who took it who let us use it. It was amazing how it all came together and it represents the music beautifully.”

Champ’s ‘Born In The Wild End’ (EP) is out now and available on all digital platforms.

Champ is:

Jonny Bee (singer / guitarist), Luke Cowley (guitarist), Will Hamilton (bassist), Tom Sotheran (drummer)
