Following their standout performance at AmericanaFest UK earlier this year, Canada’s Altameda return with their brand new single ‘Body Spray’. Toeing the line between romanticising the past whilst longing for new beginnings, the track captures the JUNO Nominated duo’s ability to effortlessly transcend between rock, neo folk and alternative country, and is indicative of further new music to come very soon. It lands during their return to the UK this month for a run of shows.

“‘Body Spray’ confronts the confusion that the principal character is experiencing when faced with mistreatment from their lover, and nostalgia for their past”, explains singer Troy, “Desperate to find an escape they fantasize about having the ability to fly away and begin a new life. The character confides in and reminisces with a past lover about days of their youth —where they would cause mischief together and light fires with cans of body spray. The lavender clouds of smoke rising from the flames and dispersing symbolizes the fragility of time, and serves as a reminder that nothing lasts forever, better or for worse”.

‘Body Spray’ follows the standalone single ‘What Good Am I?’ released at the start of this year – a haunting duet with singer-songwriter Frazey Ford (Be Good Tanyas) - which has accumulated almost 100k streams.

Altameda are comprised of singer-songwriter Troy Snaterse and multi-talented visual artist and instrumentalist Erik Grice. Forging a distinctive sound that blends folk, rock, and Americana, their sound nods to past genre greats whilst firmly standing in their own refreshing lane. Hailing from Edmonton and now based in Toronto, the band have been captivating audiences across North America and Europe with their live performances. Along the way, they've had the honor of sharing the stage with acclaimed acts like The Zombies, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Delta Spirit, Kacy & Clayton, The Sheepdogs, Susto, and more.

From the get-go, Altameda’s music has garnered the attention of some of the industry’s biggest voices, receiving critical acclaim from NPR, Rolling Stone, CBC, BBC Radio, Shindig!, Flood Magazine, and Exclaim!. Their 2022 album, ‘Born Losers’, debuted at #1 on the Canadian folk charts and quickly became a fan favorite, earning extensive airplay on CBC, BBC Radio and Sirius XM. The album received a nomination for Adult Alternative Album of The Year at the 2023 JUNO awards, cementing their place as one of Canada’s most promising acts.

Set to return to the UK this month, Altameda will embark on a run of shows supporting Toploader throughout April. Dates for the run are:
