Artist: Heavy Lungs / Joe and the Shitboys / skunkworm

Venue: The Star

Town: Guildford

Date: 23.10.25

Just a 10 minute drive for a change to the ol' hometown, what could be better. Even with the extra time saved I sadly didn't get to youtube check on the three bands, I know not prepared.... anyway the wonderful thing was each band though sharing a similar attitude to life and performance all shone brightly where to me it matters, good ol' fashioned entertainment not to mention some bangin' tunes. I am just going to give you an idea of what it was like in the photos below I think that will give you the vibe...

skunkworm

They are a local band from Guildford who did surprise me how good they were, will no doubt see them around...

Joe and the shitboys

Punky vignettes that burst into life for 2 to 3 minutes mostly with a shout along chorus. They won the crowd over in about 60 secs with their in your face attitude and the incredible fact they come from The Faroe Islands, my mind boggled at the jump from there even to a small town like Guildford.

Heavy Lungs

Arriving from Bristol were the post-punk band Heavy Lungs. They were on it from the start of the controlled feedback introduction. A superb non stop performance with measured volume and energy in abundance. The band consists of songwriter and lead vocalist Danny Nedelko, guitarist Oliver Southgate, drummer George Garratt, and bassist James Minchall. How Minchall could still control and play his bass while swinging it around in what looked like mental anguish was phenomenal to behold.
