Frank Turner Live Review

The 1865 in Southampton

Venue - 1865

Town - Southampton

Date - July 18th 2024

Line up - Ben Brown - The Meffs - Frank Turner

A steaming 1865 was ready for a night of raucous souls displaying their musical offerings on Thursday evening. First up was a discovery by Frank Turner, he ran in to Ben Brown at a public function and now resides on the same record label, it's nice to see these moments of discovery still happen!

Ben gave us some acoustic numbers with some comic interludes for a pleasant start to the night. Following Ben were The Meffs who really took the energy levels up a few notches with their infectious riffing, punky anthems. Always entertaining with some salty political statements thrown in to the mix, Lily on Telecaster was such a good watch and the sound was just spot on and hard to ignore as many in the crowd already knew.

The main attraction was Frank Turner, with energetic backing from The Sleeping Souls. With such a  variation of styles from flat out guitar folk/punk to acoustic solo the rammed 1865 was held captive for the whole show as the temperature and atmosphere crept steadily upwards.

With his new album Undefeated  Frank has looked at his musical influences and brought together a time capsule of where he is today. Check out the Photos below.
