L’Objectif – "Walking Home (From The City)"

Review by Anna C for Return To Sound

This self-proclaimed indie rock romp conjures up images of a chilled drive down the A647 from Leeds (where L’Objectif are from) to Bradford, maybe in a convertible. Although the convertible – and this band’s sound – lend themselves more to Route 66. The quartet have toured with Geese and it’s that sort of Radio 6 playlist staple that Walking Home (From the City) rubs shoulders quite nicely with.

I listen to this station pretty much all day long so I know that the airwaves are saturated with cool, melodic guitar-based bands like L’Objectif. Think also fellow Brits, Divorce or West Side Cowboy (with a random frenzied rally of guitars at the end) -everyone loves them at the moment, right?

Themes of carefree friendship and coming-of-age simplicity form the lyrical content, nostalgic yet timeless in a way that will appeal to a wide range of audiences, audiences that might just even be walking home from a hill or a church or maybe even a farm. Sorry, I had to go there.
