Is it me or does everything suck at the moment? Just the other day, for example, I reversed my car out of my driveway and somehow caught the bumper on the gate without realising and so began a tug of war that resulted in a bent gate and even more bent car. But ahhhh... praise be for here we have a lovely song to take us into Autumn and banish the despair that may ensue from current modern life.

For it is a cruise in a convertible. It is a romp in a cornfield. It is... well, you get the idea. Beaming the light and heat of Summer’s last hurrah, Liverpudlian quartet EJOY bring a classic sparkle to this, their latest single. In fact, they remind me of CMAT without the clever lyrics; instead more playful than cynical, bringing a rare feeling of contentment and excitement in rather dreary times of late. There’s a world war on the horizon? Fuck it – let’s boogie.

As the title suggests, Love Bugs is sweetly magical – a breath of fresh air reminding the listener that nothing can kill the pure thrill of music giving and receiving, not even the cost of fuel (or car repairs). With each member of EJOY bringing their own influences and experiences to the creative process, it would appear that the band are fairly well aligned in style and talent. A familiar, non- threatening bimble through the genres of funk, soul and pop, EJOY are sure to be one to keep an eye out for in the run up to new releases incoming. We need this sort of vibe right now.
